Welcome Back & First Day Guide

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to a new school year at Barrowtown! We hope your summer was filled with fun, family, and a little time to slow down. We’re so excited to welcome our students back to school and to greet our new families joining our community. We are also happy to have Mrs. Wiebe returning to her Grade ½ classroom after her Maternity Leave and Mrs.Rutschmann joining our staff teaching in the K classroom.

Our team has been busy preparing for a fantastic year of learning, growth, and connection. We’re committed to creating a safe, caring, and engaging environment where every child feels valued and supported.

We can’t wait to see our hallways full of energy again - backpacks swinging, voices buzzing, and smiles everywhere. We’re looking forward to a year of learning, laughter, and growth together. See you on the first day!

🌟 First Day of School – Helpful Reminders for Families

Date & Time

• First day: September 2, 2025
• School hours: 9:15am-12:14pm

Morning Drop-Off

• Staff will be outside to greet students and help them find their classrooms.
• Students are asked to line up outside the door at the end of the school next to the parking lot. Teachers will be there to help gather their students.
• Kindergarten students are on a gradual entry schedule and do not join us on our first day. K parents will have received the schedule for students entering Kindergarten this year.

What to Bring

• A backpack with snack, water bottle, and any school supplies that students may already have set for the year.
• Indoor shoes for the classroom.
• Weather-appropriate clothing.

After-School Pick-Up

• Students will be dismissed from the doors at the end of the building nearest the parking lot at 12:14. Bus students will line up in designated bus lines and a teacher will bring them to their bus.
• If you are picking up your child in person, please make contact for the teacher before leaving.

First Half-Day Bus Pick-Up Times:

• Bus #10: 12:14 PM
• Bus #11: 12:30 PM

Please note: These early pick-up times apply only to the first half-day. Starting the next school day, all bus pick-ups will be at 3:16 PM.

As the year goes on, please let the office know if there’s a change in pick-up plans for your child.

• Watch for updates in our emails, on Facebook and Instagram and on the school website.
• For urgent matters, please call the main office at 604-854-5996.
